Spiritual Saturdays...

In light of all the themes that are going around Thankful Thursday, Fatty Friday my theme will be Spiritual Saturday...
During my morning devotion time I was reading Max Lucado's Facing Your Giants and found an interesting passage on Refuge. Where we find David on the run. 1 Samuel 19. David flees to Jonathan, his soul mate. Jonathan wants to help, but what can he do? Leave the court in the hands of a madman? No, Jonathan has to stay with Saul. David can hear the twine popping on the lifeline.
No place in the court.
No position in the army.
No wife, no priest, no friend.
Nothing to do but run.
Then David returns his focus to God and finds refuge...he remembers he is not alone...
Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
~Psalms 57:1
Remember to make God your refuge. Not your job, your spouse, your reputation, or anything else that you put before God. Make God your refuge. Let Him, not Satan, encircle you. Let God be the ceiling that breaks the sunshine, the wall that stops the wind, the foundation on which you stand. You'll never know that Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have. Are you in the wilderness? Find refuge in God's presence. Find comfort in his people.
